For yet another year, one college major continues to reign supreme among undergraduate students across the nation.
Student financial services company Student Choice explored the changing trends in America’s favorite college majors by analyzing 121,862 undergraduate student loan applications from 2016 to 2023, revealing fascinating shifts in student preferences.
Business remains the undisputed leader, commanding nearly 13 percent of all student loan applications last year, with nursing close behind at 10.87 percent. Interestingly, engineering applications have dipped by 1.19 percent since 2016, while psychology has surged from the fifth to the third most popular major. Newcomers to the top 25 list in 2023 include health, architecture, and liberal arts, highlighting a diverse range of interests among today’s students.
